Kyle Larson’s blistering lap earned him the pole Friday in qualifying for Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
The Chip Ganassi Racing driver (202.156 mph) unseated Martin Truex Jr. (202.117 mph) and jumped to the top of the board in the final minute of the three-round knockout qualifying session. Larson won his first Monster Energy Cup Series race last August at Michigan, which is similarly sized (2 miles) to Michigan and shares many characteristics., and earlier this season he won the pole and race at Auto Club Speedway
